Nerve (Pulp) Treatment Loveland

Relieving Pain, Preserving Teeth & Supporting Healthy Development

When a cavity or injury reaches the inner part of the tooth (also called the pulp), it can cause pain, infection, and long-term damage if left untreated. At Pediatric Dentistry of Loveland, we offer gentle, evidence-based pulp therapies that relieve discomfort, protect oral development, and help your child keep their natural tooth whenever possible.

Dr. Matthew and Dr. Katie are trained in advanced pediatric pulp treatments and always take a conservative, symptom-based approach. As parents themselves, they understand how important it is to balance clinical excellence with emotional comfort.

Does My Child Need Pulp Treatment?

The pulp is the soft tissue inside of every tooth that contains blood vessels and nerves. When it becomes infected or inflamed due to trauma or decay, it can cause the following symptoms:

  • Toothache or extreme sensitivity
  • Swelling or abscesses (a pimple-like bump on the gums)
  • Discomfort when chewing
  • Teeth that appear discolored or darkened
  • Disrupted sleep or changes in behavior

If you notice any of these signs, give us a call. We’ll gently evaluate your child’s smile and then guide you through next steps.

What We Offer

  • A pulpotomy removes the inflamed portion of the pulp...for baby teeth in order to relieve early pain symptoms your child is experiencing due to a deep cavity while maintaining the tooth's function.
  • A pulpectomy removes all pulp tissue from the tooth when the tooth is no longer alive and infected....
  • Vital pulp therapy is used for asymptomatic deep cavities be sealing off the cavity preventing progression. This therapy is best for conservative treatment of baby teeth or immature permanent teeth that are still growing roots (critical for avoiding early extraction of permanent teeth!)
  • Lesion Sterilization and Tissue Repair (LSTR) is a recent and very successful pulp treatment for infected baby teeth. It relies on the placement of antibiotics inside the tooth to heal infections that have moved into the jaw and preserve the tooth until exfoliation.

Comfort & Safety Come First

  • Nitrous oxide is always available to help children feel relaxed during treatment.
  • Our team members use gentle language, helpful visual aids, and sensory-friendly techniques to reduce any anxiety.
  • We’ll explain every step of the process in age-appropriate ways so that kids feel safe and supported.
