Children’s Tooth Extractions Loveland
Wiggly, Wobbly, or Worrisome?
We’ve Got it Covered
At Pediatric Dentistry of Loveland, we believe that every tooth has a purpose. That’s why we only recommend extraction when it’s truly necessary. Whether it’s due to severe decay, infection, crowding, or trauma, our team approaches every extraction with precision, empathy, and a focus on your child’s long-term oral health.
Dr. Matthew and Dr. Katie are Board-Certified pediatric dentists with advanced training in surgical care for children. They’ve treated patients in top children’s hospitals and understand how to make even the most stressful procedures feel safe, calm, and manageable. They will always take the time to explain the “why” behind their recommendations, and they’re here to support your family through an extraction – before, during, and after the procedure.
Is Tooth Extraction Needed?

Our dentists will always explore more conservative options first. We only recommend extraction when it’s the best path forward for your child’s comfort and development. These situations may result in an extraction being needed:
- Severe tooth decay that can’t be restored
- An infection or abscess that is threatening the surrounding teeth
- Overcrowding that affects orthodontic treatment or overall alignment
- Retained baby teeth that are blocking the growth of permanent teeth
- Trauma that has fractured or loosened a tooth
What To Expect

Don’t worry! Most extractions are quick and well-tolerated, even by young children. Our team explains every step in age-appropriate language to reduce fear and build trust. The area is numbed with gentle, local anesthesia to ensure a pain-free experience, and nitrous oxide can be provided for additional relaxation. We will carefully remove the tooth and then clean and protect the site.
Extraction Aftercare & Recovery

You will be provided with detailed instructions about your child’s healing, including what to eat, how to manage any discomfort, and how to keep the extraction site clean. Mild soreness and swelling are normal, and they should resolve on their own in a couple of days. Our team is always available for follow-up support – don’t hesitate to call us if you have any questions as your child heals!
